Podcast – Radiolab Football

I am not really a sports fan. I don’t really like playing them, I really don’t like watching them. I enjoy the occaisional minor league baseball game, but for me it’s really about the sitting outside hanging out with whomever I am with rather than the game itself.

So I was surprised when I found the Radiolab Podcast about the history and current state of American Football to be so compelling.

Gratitude – Sun, quiet office, family

I am grateful for a warm sunny day. Victoria is known for it’s mild climate in Canada, but while there isn’t a lot of snow, it’s usually pretty grey and cloudy even when it’s not raining in the wintertime. Today it was bright with blue skies, and if that’s not nice, I don’t know what is.

I am grateful for a solitary, quiet experience at my desk today. TGIM.

I am grateful for the opposite of that experience with our kids tonight. For some reason, perhaps even just the weather, everyone was in a good mood. Lego was assembled; tickle fights were battled; lost, and won; dinner was simple faire and enjoyed by all the 4 of us relatively whine and scream free at the table tonight. It was one of those nights that will someday become the good old days.

Gratitude – good weather, lazy weekend, cleaner house

I am grateful for nice weather. It’s starting to feel like spring; like a sweater isn’t always necessary; like one can make plans to do things outside and have them work out okay.

I am grateful for a lazy weekend. It’s been busy around here the last while. We didnt do much of anything this weekend and that was nice.

And by not do much of anything, I mean I tried to clean up as much as I could as fast as I could. So I am also grateful for a tidy house, or at least a house that is much tidier than it was on Friday afternoon.

Gratitude – croci, summit park, eagles

I am grateful for crocuses blooming. Today we went for a walk, we saw lots, starting in our front yard.

I am grateful for summit park, where we went for a walk today. It’s pretty there.

I am grateful for bald eagles. We heard a strange bird call, and a woman in the park said it was the eagles in the cel tower. Apparently they were there last year, and a bit later in the spring there were eaglets, too. Here’s hopin’ we get some eaglets there this year, too.

Gratitude – movie night, end of a tough week, reno progress

I am grateful for Movie Night at Coop’s school. It’s a fair amount of chaos, and not the greatest way to see a film, but it’s fun and community oriented and there is pizza, and happy, tired kids at the end of it.

I am grateful we made it through this week. It was a crazy one. All I want to do tomorrow is nothing, and I don’t think I have to accomplish much more than that.

I am grateful for slow, steady news of progress on the reno front. An electrical inspection and service upgrade are scheduled for Monday. It will be nice to have that behind us, and to define a few more of the unknown variables for the project.

Gratitude – Valentines, Cat and Mouse, Kids climbing on me

I am grateful for the time and effort Coop is putting into his Valentines, writing out the names, crossing them off his list, and taking care no one is left out.

I am grateful for the cat and mouse game that happened with a parachute at Beavers tonight.

I am grateful for Farley, who, even as I write this has been chanting “I LIKE TO CLIMB ON YOU, PAPA! I LIKE TO CLIMB ON YOU, PAPA!”

Gratitude – funk, folks, washer and dryer

I am grateful for Farley’s daycare provider, who double checked that what Farley was singing was in fact “Funk you up”. We’ve been listening to “Upown Funk” by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars a lot, lately.

I am grateful for the month long visit from my Mom and Dad that just concluded today. It was great for us to have them around, great for them to have lots of time with the grandkids, and great for the kids to have lots of time with the grandparents. I’m grateful that my folks could do the visit, and I’m grateful they chose too.

i’m grateful that we just completed a great deal on a very slightly used washer and dryer for the suite. Score!

Gratitude – boys, pancake needs, family day

I am grateful for my boys, whose play slips so fluidly from wrasslin’ to snuggling, to screaming and back again. It’s hard to follow, and that makes it hard to know if and when a dad should step in and break it up. This is a good thing, because it’s probably best I don’t stick my snoot in there anyway.

I am grateful my local grocery store understands that sometimes, I have “pancake needs”.

I am grateful for the pajama and sugary cereal themed screening of “The Song of the Sea” that we saw this morning as part of the Victoria Film Festival. It was a great movie for anyone of any age; the best kid movies always are. This one is a cherry!
