Gratitude

I am grateful for a productive day. Tax stuff is in to the accountant. Emails were answered. Websites are ever closer to finished.

I am grateful for time at the studio while Julie took care of the home front tonight.

I am grateful for the effect that hanging a recently completed painting on my wall has on me. Painting is usually a struggle for at least some part of the process, and I often second guess myself about when to decide that I am done. Seeing it up on the living room wall always makes me feel better about the point I’ve decided to stop and declare it finished.

Gratitude

I am grateful for a productive day in the garagenous zone.

I am grateful for huevos rancheros that Julie made for supper.

I am grateful for date night, we saw a crappy and predictable but enjoyable formulaic movie I won’t name, then drove to the water and hung out in the car for a bit.

I am grateful that no-one ever gives me flak about these mundane gratitude posts. I know some of you must be thinking, “who cares?”. I probably would. T’any rate, if you are counted among them: I appreciate your patience, even more than the robot that last told you that while you were on hold.

Gratitude

I am grateful for a brunch with friends this morning. I made coffee and tea. They brought traditional a Polish Easter breakfast, It was delicious and great to visit.

I am grateful for the opportunity to decorate pisanki Easter eggs, with the fancy pants dyes and the wax resist and all. Everyone at the table had their heads down in full project mode when that was underway.

I am grateful for Julie. It was her idea to celebrate with ice cream bars by the water at Cattle Point this evening while the sun was setting. kids and grownups alike clambered on rocks, we watched a pair of seals while the pair of seals watched us, and we debated how to pronounce anemone, and it was beautiful, and then we went home.

Gratitude

I am grateful for a visit from the Easter Bunny this morning, and some excited kids, and for only one treat obtained by raccoons.

I am grateful for a fantastic walk at the Chemainus River Estuary. It’s really pretty there, and there are lots of sticks and rocks and the like for kids to muck around with. One highlight was a family team effort to build a bridge of logs and rocks to ford a small stream. The weather was great, too.

I am grateful for family fun night. My pick: we ate dinner at Swiss Chalet, then walked around Swan Lake right when the sun was going down. It was a beautiful night, and the kids did great. Farley led us most of the way, while Cooper checked off a list of items he and Julie made; things like “great blue heron” (which we saw), and “muskrat” (which we didn’t).

I am grateful for lunch with an old pal of mine who recently became a father, and regaled me with his experience of fatherhood so far. Thinking about that, thinking about babies, thinking about when my kids were babies and I was a new dad, I am grateful for all that. I am grateful for all the babies. Also grateful to be past it, those are some tough crazy first few months.
