Gratitude

I am grateful for time in at the studio this morning.

I am grateful for the survival of all family members after an extended trip to Costco today.

I am grateful for my grandmother’s recipe for porcupine meatballs, and for my relatives who photocopied and arranged all her recipes into a coil-bound book. They weren’t a big hit with the kiddos like I’d hoped, but I enjoyed them.

I am grateful for some generally great behaviour from my kids today. They were friendly and didn’t require a lot of refereeing, helpful, and they tidied up the living room without being asked. It’s a grand thing to catch them doing something good.

I am grateful for lunch with my parents again today. I am so blessed to have the folks I have. I am grateful that they are able to come out here for about a month out of every year, and that it’s what they choose to do.

I am grateful for Coop’s Family Fun Night. We went out for Indian food and then watched “Wonder” at home. It was a swell movie, and just the kind of thing I’d want my kids to see.

I am grateful for my folks, who delivered our kids home and dropped by for a bit tonight.

I am grateful for the garagenous zone, which can open up for business any old time I like, sometimes for an hour or two after the kids go down.

I am grateful that the day is done. I’m bushed.

I am grateful for an evening out. We painted at the studio and then chit chatted while eating drive thru junk food atop Mount Tolmie. It was sublime.

I am grateful for lunch out kid free with Julie and my folks. Nice to carry a conversation.I am grateful for dinner out Julie free with my kids and my folks. They’ll be heading home soon, it’s great they can come out and spoil us rotten for a good chinch of time every year. I am a lucky man to have been born to these people, and I am grateful that they like Victoria enough to come out here.I am grateful for time spent helping Farley prepare his Valentine’s Day cards for his classmates.

I am grateful for a fun time at the Cedar Hill Family Day Arts Festival.

I am grateful for the first crocuses I’ve seen this year at Summit Park, and some impromptu hide and seek with a bunch of kids that collected themselves together as kids do.

I am grateful for a flyby of a big red tailed hawk. It was within 10 feet or so when it swooped by. Hard to believe how quiet it was. If I was a mouse, I’d be a goner.

I am grateful for time spent with some folks I know at a birthday party for a pal of Farley’s today.

I am grateful for dinner at the Spaghetti Factory with my kids and my parents this evening.

I am grateful for a set of water mixable oil paints I received from my lovely spouse for Christmas. I gave those a try until too late this evening, it was fun.

I am grateful for my folks, who showed our kids a good time while I got some work done in the garagenous zone.

I am grateful for a smoker we acquired a while back. It was free, on the side of the road, down the street. I tried it out today with some ribs, and they were the best I’ve ever made.

I am grateful for dinner with everyone at my house, my parents, too. Nice that they are around for that kind of thing.

I am grateful for a screening of the film, Stardust. We all watched it in our living room after dinner.
