I am grateful for time spent in the studio today. I was in there for a good long while, and I’ve now finished this painting I’ve titled Salish Sea at Sunset, acrylic on canvas, 60″ x 30″.
I am grateful for words my lads spoke to each other from their bunks tonight when I was putting them down for bed.
Me: Goodnight Cooper, I love you. Good night Farley, I love you.
Cooper: Goodnight Dada, I love you. Goodnight Farley, I love you.
Farley: Cooper, you love me?
Cooper: Well not like [smoochy sound effects] but like, you know, brotherly love.
Farley: I love you too, Cooper.
Farley: Sometimes we don’t love each other on the outside, but we always love each other on the inside.
Made my heart go pitter pat.
I am grateful for time in the studio today.
I am grateful for a childrens’ martial arts class offered at the adjacent rec centre that meant that some of that time was while my kids were occupied with that.

I am grateful for a fun night at Cooper’s cub meeting. Farley came too tonight. He was excited about the seed planting activity that was planned.
I am grateful for adhesives. Farl was pretty upset when the terra cotta plant pot he’d painted so well and intended to present to his mama fell and hit the driveway pavement when we came home. It’s back together now, and all’s well that ends well.
I am grateful for a spontaneous 1 day visit from my in-laws today, including my brother in-law. They brought eggplant bharta from our old favourite Vancouver restaurant, Akbar’s Own, and the rest of a more locally source Indian feast. There were board games, a walk in the park, general visiting, and then we fed them a bbq dinner. It was a fun day.
I am grateful for Mr. Baldy and Mr. Creepy. These are the faces Farley drew on his thighs today.
I am grateful for time in the top bunk with my big kid getting him down for bedtime today. Nice to know he’s not too big to ask for that; though now I’m at that point where I always wonder if this time will be the last time.
I am grateful for the moment I left the toy department at Wal-Mart this morning.
I am grateful for connections with folks in my community; Other parents at a birthday party that I don’t know well, but that have known a long time; and friends we went for a swim with tonight.
I am grateful for lunch and time taking in an art show with Julie today.

I am grateful for 5 hours straight at the studio today. The decadence!
I am grateful for another swell day with my brother.
I am grateful for Farl and Coop’s first night of a martial arts class. It was great to sit and chat with Jules while we watched those fellas do their thing.
I am very grateful for a day of brotherly visitation. We ate like kings and worked like a well oiled machine on making easels to display paintings at festivals and a studio tour I plan to participate in coming up. The weather was great, and it was a ton of fun.
I am grateful for ribs we tended in the smoker for 7 hours today.
