Gratitude

I am grateful for an opportunity to make Eggs Benedict this morning.

I am grateful for ice cream with my family at Parachute on Bridge Street. Man, they make some good stuff there.

I am grateful for time spent with Coop at the Board Game Cafe.

Gratitude

I’m grateful for another day of flogging art in my front yard, and talking up people people I’ve known forever, along with folks I’ve never met, and feeling the love and support of folks who dig art in my community.

I am grateful for Julie, who tuckered herself and our kids right out with a day at the beach.

Gratitude

I am grateful for good weather and a good crowd in my front lawn for the Scattered Artists Studio Tour.

I am grateful for my friend and fellow Artist Pat, who really likes my kids, and played Scrabble with Coop for a good long while, and was generally fun to be around for the day.

I am grateful for a night out with Julie. We saw Deadpool 2, which was irreverent and fun.

Gratitude

I am grateful for Farley, who loves to run up the hill to the house by the rec centre after karate.

I am grateful for Coop, who is a trooper, and for our public health system, and that his ankle injury was likely just a sprain as we’d hoped after all. Poor kid!

Gratitude

I am grateful as all heck for that Farley kid. He turned 6 today.

I am grateful for a fun birthday with that guy. Watching him open presents, going out to dinner with some chosen family, blowing out candles and eating cake. All of it is such good stuff.

Gratitude

I am grateful for a productive day in the garagenous zone.

I am grateful for time spent kayaking at Cadboro Bay at Coop’s Cub meeting, for a while with Farley in the front of a double. It was a warm, still evening.

Gratitude

I am grateful for time my kids get to spend with their cousins.

I am grateful for a walk along Locarno beach chit chatting with my brother in law.

I am grateful for a nap on a living room couch.

I am grateful for the opportunity to celebrate my parents in law’s 50th wedding anniversary, and to be with them in their church to see them renew their vows.

I am grateful for the feast thereafter.

And I am grateful for the epic charades game that somehow came out of this experience, where the more devout followers of the Star Wars Franchise acted out their favourite characters, droids, aliens, spaceships, and military hardware while everyone else guessed who or what it was. We’re all surprisingly good at it. Salacious Crumb from episode V, for example, or the eyeball monster in the trash compactor from episode IV, we’re each guessed within 40 seconds, I’d say.

Gratitude

I am grateful for a drawing Farley made of our new trailer. He’s almost as excited about that thing as I am.

I am grateful for a safe journey to Vancouver, and for the ferry trip. I pretty much always enjoy the ferry, but especially so on a nice day like today.

I am grateful for time spent in Ikea.

I am grateful for time spent with my in-laws, seeing my boys run rampant with their cousin, eating great food, chit chatting on the deck in the backyard.
