I am grateful for time spent in a meeting with my co-curator of the group show I am involved in. She owned a gallery in Toronto for many years, so she knows a thing or two about putting pieces together and figuring out what goes where, and it’s great to get a chance to learn a thing or two about this kind of work.
I am grateful for the wherewithal to build my own dang frames with a bunch of wood, a tablesaw, glue, clamps, and whatnot. I’ve got 6 shallow canvases that need them, and if this all works out, I’ll save a bundle.
II am grateful for time spent with my lads at bedtime, reading until the light goes off, then chitchatting in the dark.
I am grateful for my folks, who took the boys for a while this afternoon, thus allowing me to get some cuss done.
I am grateful for dinner they brought back with them to eat in at our house this evening.
I am grateful for a trip to the Bob Wright Observatory at UVic this evening, where we looked at the super wolf blood moon (super, because it’s close, wolf, because it’s the first full moon of the year, and blood, because it’s a lunar eclipse). I am grateful for the enthusiastic astronomy students there, who just can’t wait to tell Farley where gravity comes from.
I am grateful for the wherewithal to take care of my own dang website.
I am grateful for crepes with cherry sauce that Julie made this morning. Might have been afternoon. Also: grateful for that kind of morning, or afternoon.
I am grateful for time spent painting while the boys were playing with lego in the living room, while we listened to the first 2 episodes of the original 1978 Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy radio play.
I am grateful for some card displays I was given by the owner of a closing store today (Zydeco on Johnson St., a crazy store where you’d go to buy off the wall T-shirts, greeting cards, or punk gear back in the day, open since 1986). A bit sad to see the store close, but… SCORE!
I am grateful for dinner out with my folks, who have arrived here a good long stay as they have every winter for several years. Nice to be treated to dinner, and it will be great to have them around for the next several weeks.
I am grateful for time in the studio this morning
I am grateful for lunch out with Julie today.
I am grateful for Family Fun Night: Farley’s pick. We went out for a swim, and hit drive thru on the way home. Farley went down the water slide a gazillion times, and Coop jumped off the 5m dive board. Fun times!
I am grateful for time spent at the studio this morning.
I am grateful for time spent playing a game loosely based on baseball with Julie and Farley in the park today.,
I am grateful for dinner with my family tonight, It was simple – I prepared frozen perogies with bacon and onion, served with frozen veggies on the side. That’s all that’s required though, for me to feel that I have everything I need.
I am grateful for time spent watching Black Mirror: Bandersnatch with Julie tonight after the kids went to bed. There must have been some very creative minds working at full capacity to produce that shindig!
I am grateful for a full day.
I am grateful for a sandwich Julie made me for lunch.
I am grateful for time spent getting started on a new painting. Truth is, drawing it out and getting the canvas ready to paint isn’t my favourite part of the process, but there’s never as much anticipation about a painting as there is at the beginning. I’ve been wrong before about which ones will be a struggle and which will almost paint themselves, but I’ve got a good feeling about this one!
I am grateful for a winner winner chicken dinner.
I am grateful for a better day.
I am grateful for an opportunity to show my work at the Victoria International Airport for the next 3 months.
I am grateful for the little donair and pizza place that’s far enough but not too far from our house, because I did not have the time nor energy to make dinner tonight.
I am grateful for Coop, who I asked to speak a bit about the badges he’s been earning at his Cub meeting tonight in an effort to encourage the other kids, and who was nervous about that, but made notes, and did it anyway. He did a fine job, and he was brave, and done made me proud.
I am grateful for Julie’s Butter Chicken. She’s been working on it, and it just keeps getting better.
I am grateful for time spent volunteering at our school’s bottle drive. I didn’t think i would be. Coop dragged me because he wanted to go. Turned out to be a nice day outside, and sorting cans was a rhythmic task I could sink into, and I met some nice other parent folks officially that I’d seen around the school and neighbourhood. Good stuff.
I am grateful for time spent painting in the living room while Farley was at a play date and Coop watched a movie.
I am grateful for my first successful use of a car sharing co-op.
I am grateful for time in the studio this morning.
I am grateful for time spent coding in the garagenous zone this afternoon. First time in a while that’s inspired gratitude. Thing is, coding is fun sometimes.
I am grateful for date night. Julie and I went to see Supernova at the Belfry. It was not easily digestible, but it was awesome, and I really liked it. At one point there were T-shirts worn by some of the performers that read, “Gratitude is medicine.” It’s true.
