I am grateful for a fun visit with my brother on Monday and Tuesday. There was kayaking, home projects, and good eats. I always have a great time with that fella.
I am grateful for a fun time at Western Speedway with my buddy Peter and our kids. Monster trucks were the big draw, but the drift cars, demolition derby, and jet powered golf cart were perhaps even better. We all agreed the evening exceeded expectations.
I am grateful for time in the studio today.
I am grateful for time spent watching my kids at martial arts class with Julie tonight.
I am grateful for 5 hours in the studio today. It’s been too long since I’ve been in there.
I am grateful for the chance to be in the audience for Cooper’s play that they put on as part of an after-school theatre program he’s been doing, with Farley on my lap, next to Julie. If that wasn’t nice, what is?
I am grateful for time spent with Farley finishing off the marble run machine set that he purchased at Coombs on our camping trip.
I am grateful for every single dang photo I took on that trip. I just got them off my camera today – there were some great memories we made together.
I am grateful for an action packed camping trip with my mother in law and my two lads at Sproat Lake. There were kayaks, petroglyphs, fireworks, and campfires. Our camping neighbours were good folk and there were other kids to hang out with. It was a great trip.
It was also exhausting, so I am also grateful to be home. Win-win!
I am grateful for time spent chin wagging the phone on two different occasions with two different old comrades who both called for purposes other than friendly conversation, but we’re both mutually amenable to that pastime.
I am grateful for time spent snuggled up on the couch with Coop, while I took care of some work on my laptop as we both listened to a few podcasts from the Memory Palace.
Iam grateful for time spent with Farley helping him out with yet another birthday Lego set, and then reading to him at bedtime.
I am grateful for every minute with Farley, who turned 7 today.
I am grateful for the sight of Coop and Farl having a fun time together playing with the basketball that was Coop’s consolation big brother gift this morning before school.
I am grateful for a plethora of unrelenting to-do list items crossed out.
I am grateful for time in the studio, then the gym.
I am grateful for the opening of presents, the eating of pizza, the beating of a piñata, and casual time spent with some neighbours and friends for Farley’s family birthday festivities tonight.
I am grateful for time spent chillin’ in the hillbilly hot tub tonight with Julie.
I am grateful for time in the studio and gym this morning.
I am grateful for time with Farley this afternoon. In an unprecedented move, we took that kid out to shop for his own birthday presents. He’d ask if he could buy this, or that; or this and that; which he always does; but this time instead of saying no, no, and no, we could say yes, yes, and yes!
I am grateful to Julie for a bit of a nap I had, apres-mall, and before consuming the lovely dinner she made for all of us tonight.
I am grateful for time spent with my kids looking for Waldo at bedtime tonight.
I am grateful for time in the studio this morning.
I am grateful for a logistically complicated day that all worked out okay.
I am grateful for time spent on the water in a kayak with a bunch of cubs, including Cooper for a bit.
I am grateful for all the mothers in my life, in particular, my own mother, my lovely spouse, and my late grandmothers.
I am grateful that she asked for eggs benedict this morning, because I love making them and eating them too.
I am grateful for time spent with Farley working on a lego set he got for his birthday. It’s a model of a 1968 Mustang that’s intended for 16+ year olds, and he’s 7, but aside from helping him get pieces ready for the next step, he pretty much built that thing on his own.
I am grateful for time spent at Farley’s baseball game today, too. I got to be third base coach. (Anyone who knows me will also know that the idea of my coaching anyone in anything sporty is laughable.) It was a great game, for the first time those guys seemed to be making plays.
I am grateful for a relaxed afternoon at home. I napped while one kid read and one kid played lego quietly nearby. Parenting would be easy if it were like that all the time.
I am grateful for Farley’s Birthday party today. Can’t believe how big that kid is getting. He had fun, and I was happy and more relieved than I’d thought I’d be after it ended; I think I was more worried about it all going than I’d realized.
I am grateful for a good local community of families we know, even when we don’t know them all well.
I am grateful for my folks, who brought take out and ate it with us in our backyard while the kids bounced in the trampoline, and played multigenerational card games after that. It was effortless for us, which was great, because we were all tuckered out.
I am grateful for time spent in the studio this afternoon.
I am grateful for family fun night: Farley’s pick. Grandma and Grandad joined us for dinner at White Spot, and then we went bowling at Miracle Lanes in Sidney. Fun stuff.
And I am grateful for Cooper, who was a good sport about doing all that even though it wasn’t his idea of what Farley’s family fun night should be, and for Farley, who is was an excellent sharer of the mentos he purchased at the bowling alley with his allowance money.
