Gratitude

I am grateful to the Grand Pacific Hotel and to the Victoria Arts Council for the Artishow Hotel Artist in Residence program. I had fantastic month, starting and completing 6 paintings while I was there. It was a tremendous opportunity for me to engage with the public, and I sold several originals and prints, and many cards. The staff at the hotel were excellent. I would very much like to do that again sometime!

I am grateful for Julie, who took the time to help me tear down today.

I am grateful for family fun night: Farley’s pick. We saw Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs in the theatre, then A&W for supper.

I am grateful for time spent painting today.

I am grateful for a memento where I saw Julie talking to an upset Farley, out on the front lawn, through the kitchen window, and I knew that kid was getting just what he needed.

I am grateful for time spent listening to the Story Pirates podcast with the boys at bedtime tonight.

I am grateful for time spent with my boys getting them down for bed. Won’t be long, I don’t think, before I’m not necessary for that anymore. It’s nice to still be needed.

Gratitude

I am grateful for some time spent painting this afternoon.

I am grateful for reconnections with 2 people today; a friend’s mother who I hadn’t seen for a long time, and a colleague I spent A LOT of time on the phone with on many projects through the years before he moved on to another industry.

I am grateful for a bloom on a sunflower, standing tall at about 8 feet off the ground, that Cooper initially planted at a Cub meeting back in June.

Gratitude

I am grateful for time spent painting. One great thing about this whole artist in residence business is you get to do a lot of that. Today I finished up this 16″ square painting of a sunrise at Mt. Doug beach I was lucky, and insomniac enough to catch a few weeks ago.

I am grateful for time spent eating pizza and watching Star Trek: the Next Generation with Coop and Farl tonight. TGIF!

Gratitude

I am grateful for good weather and a good crowd in my front lawn for the Scattered Artists Studio Tour.

I am grateful for my friend and fellow Artist Pat, who really likes my kids, and played Scrabble with Coop for a good long while, and was generally fun to be around for the day.

I am grateful for a night out with Julie. We saw Deadpool 2, which was irreverent and fun.

Gratitude

I am grateful for time spent building a marble run with Farl, then meccano with Coop tonight.

I am grateful for time spent finishing up a small painting at the kitchen table after the kids were down tonight. It’s based 12×12″ oil on canvas, on a photograph I took at sunrise at Clover Point a few weeks ago.
