It’s been a while, but not because I haven’t had plenty to be grateful for. Just got too dang tired by the end of the day for the last while.
I am grateful for Coop’s annual Cub Car Rally today. Cooper did great, and as I reflect on the other ones we’ve been to over the years, it amazes me how he’s grown and matured. This year, he really took on the task of making the best car he could. He made it look just how he wanted, and carefully added weight to get it right to the maximum amount allowed. Our test runs at the meetings showed it to be a much slower car than the others though, but he didn’t get hung up about it. Today though, all the cars received graphite to lubricate the wheels, and we think it’s what made all the difference, He won and kept winning, right up until the last race, where he came in 6th overall out of 165 registered cars. He received a medal. He was ecstatic. It was just awesome to see.
I am grateful for time spent with Farley building his lego-compatible mars rocket set. I am also grateful for the cake he baked with his mama today. Rumour has it he did most of the heavy lifting on that.
I am grateful for extra tickets for a WHL hockey game that a neighbour needed to get rid of, that we were able to foist on my cousin Jacqui, who took Cooper. Someone caught a puck that went into the stands, and they gave it to Cooper. I am not much of a hockey fan, but it sounds like even I might have liked this game; against our rival team from Vancouver; going into overtime. I know Coop had a fun time and I think Jacqui did, too.
