I am grateful for time in the studio this morning. It’s been a bit of a struggle with the painting I’ve been working on lately, but I turned a corner on it today, and I was back in a groove that felt great.
I am grateful for time spent with Julie and Farley today. Coop was at a birthday party. It was nice to have some time to dote on the little, insofar as one can when dragging a kid around doing errands. The novelty was enough, it was nice.
I am grateful for time spent reading to my boys as I put then to bed, Coop listening intently while Farley dozed on my lap in the big rocking chair.
I am grateful for MORE time spent painting at home this evening. Finished up a little one. 12″ by 12″, ferns in summit park. A month or two ago is a time of year when the summer wanes to winter, but rain arrives, and with it new plants spring up from their slumber after a dry summer.. Seeing these little, bright green ferns next to trees dropping their last few red leaves seems like a bit of a paradox, and it makes for a nice narrative in a painting.
Shameless plug: prints of this painting will soon be available at http://thefeelingoftheplace.com
