I am grateful for a great night. My Aunt Patti and Uncle Bill are in town, along with my cousin Jacqui and a friend of hers, Brittany. We fired up the BBQ, We drank cold beers. Some chatted around the table in the backyard while other more energetic types jumped in the trampoline or played backyard baseball. We got out a board game. In the end, we ate apple pie by the light of candle lanterns after the sun went down. It was way after the kids bedtime, but childhood is made for summer nights like this one. Adulthood, too, it turns out.
I am grateful for my goofball kids, who. In a series of selfies portraying various emotions, bolted to the kitchen to get prop toothpicks when I told them to look "tough".
