Gratitude – capable kids, heat, reconnecting with old friends

I am grateful for capable kids getting more and more capable every day. This morning Cooper got the bagels out of the toaster, buttered them and put them on plates his brother and himself. He got water for Farley and milk for himself (their usual orders). He made sure Farley got the green cup and green plate, because that’s Farley’s favourite. After they were done he went and found a pen, and put a star next to his name on the chart he’d decided (on his own) to make on the fridge. How about that!

I am grateful for heat. We now have electric baseboard heating in our bedroom and bathroom, for the first time since the furnace was removed in November.

I am grateful for reconnection with old friends. Today I had a friend from my university days and his family over for dinner. Near as I can figure, I hadn’t seen him for over 20 years. Since then he’s met a nice girl and had 2 fine sons. It so happens I did the same thing. The boys all got along like a house on fire, and I’d dare say the grown ups did too. I’m looking forward to seeing more of that gang, soon.
