I am grateful for a productive day working on the trailer. I didn’t do much else.
I am grateful for enthusiastic acceptance of a weird dinner I made out of ingredients I had around that needed to get used up. I had my doubts anyone in my family would like any of it, but for whatever reason, perhaps just hunger, they all liked it t enough.
I am grateful for Julie, who took care of the evening shift with the kiddos. I am the morning shift guy typically, and by the time dinner was done, I was pooped.
I am grateful for time spent watching telly with Julie after the kids were down. We just started The Lady and the Dale. It looks promising; I’ll let you know how it goes.
I am grateful for my new lawn mower. It’s way better than my old manual one. I am not much of one for mowing lawns, I do it begrudgingly. Still, there’s less to begrudge with the new mower. I might not ever get to a begrudge factor of zero; I am applying a begrudging reduction model with the new mower.
I am grateful for dinner together with my family tonight, like we do pretty much every night.
I am grateful for time spent chatting with distant friends via Skype this morning.
I am grateful for time spent working on my trailer project today.
I am grateful for a bit of rain today. The hot sunny weather is my preference, but too much this early in the season bodes anxiety for forest fires later in the summer, so I’ll choose to be grateful for it.
I am grateful for kids running around with newly purchased nerf dart guns.
I am grateful for socially distant time spent with friends batting around a badminton birdie, throwing a frisbee, and playing cornhole this evening.
I am grateful for a morning spent with a group of Nanaimo artists that’s been meeting since 1947. I was doing a demonstration of my painting via zoom with them. It was fun.
I am grateful for family fun night, Farley’s pick. we had a playdate with Lilah, a nice little dog that Farl and I see nearly every day when we walk to school at the same time that she’s out for a walk with her humans. At some point they offered us a playdate with Lilah, and today we took them up on it, and we had a fine time. She’s an easy going sort, and a polite tail wagger.
I am grateful for a walk through Summit Park, where the Camas are in bloom, and the leaves are starting to develop on the Garry oak trees.
I am grateful for rainbow loom rubber band string manufacturing paired with a few Simpson’s episodes, which was part of Farley’s choice for free family fun night.
I am grateful for time spent painting in my studio today.
I am grateful for a few minutes spent on my trailer project today.
I am grateful for an evening on the water in kayaks with Cooper’s Scout group. We went from Cadboro Bay to flower island, which is really also in Cadboro Bay. It was a really nice evening to be out. I feel blessed to be able to do that kind of thing.
I am grateful for time spent on a small repair on a power door lock on our minivan this morning. Victory!
I am grateful for time spent painting in my studio this afternoon.
I am grateful for Farley, who wasn’t in the mood to go to baseball practise this afternoon, but went anyway, and had a great time once he got there.
I am grateful for Cooper, who made a sign last night, then got up early, and made his lunch and went off to school in time to get there for a protest the students organized against spending cuts to the music program in their school.
